WHO WE ARE
We are a amall group of Christians who recognize that we are little more than sinners who have been saved by grace. We gather together to study the Bible, praise God, offer each other encouragement, while doing our best to share the love of God with others. We invite you to join with us in a worship service; feel free to come as you are - you will not be judged in our assembly.
Bible studies provide the core of our services, as we strive to gain a better understanding of God and what his plan is for our lives. It seems that many Christians today have never participated in a serious Bible study, and they are missing out on the joy that comes with growing closer to God by studying His word.
Our church has two annual mission projects. The first is a winter youth retreat that we lead for a youth group from a church in Brandenburg, KY; the retreat is held in Pigeon Forge, TN each year in January. Our second mission project is that we host a youth group from Philadephia, PA. The spend a week in August of each year in Columbia, doing work projects and Bible clubs in the area. These are examples of how God can use a small church to minister to youth around the country.
Our Basic Beliefs
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God - infallible in every word of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe everything in the Bible without question; we do not believe things that are not in the Bible. We believe that the Bible is perfectly complete and that nothing should be added or taken away from the scriptures. It was written and eventually put together by the imperfect hands of men who were inspired and led by a perfect God for this work.
We believe that there is one true God who utilizes a triune relationship in His dealings with man - God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of the three has a distinct function in relating to man. We do not claim to fully understand the details of this triune relationship, but we understand it exists as taught in the Bible.
We worship God the Father, creator and sustainer of all things; who is worthy of our worship and obedience. Man was created by God in His image; man is in no way the result of evolution. We believe that God created everything in six days and rested on the seventh as taught in the book of Genesis.
Jesus Christ is God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, shed His blood on the cross as a substitute for sinful man, was buried, resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return literally, visibly, and personally in glory and power. Jesus is our high priest as it is only by his blood that we are able to commune with God the Father.
The Holy Spirit resides within every believer and empowers every believer to live a godly life. Through His gift of the Holy Spirit, God graces every believer with spiritual gifts, which enables them to perform a function effectively within the church, the Body of Christ. It is the responsibility of each believer to discern and then use their gifts in service to their Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation represents the beginning of the Christian journey, which culminates with a Christian spending an eternity with God in a perfect world - heaven. This is the wonderful gift of grace given to us by Jesus when he willingly died for our sins. It is the responsibility of Christians to share this grace with others, and lead others to have a personal relationship with God. The Bible teaches that everyone has sinned, and has earned eternal death - or seperation from God. Jesus Christ died as a substitute for us; believing this, putting your faith in Him, and making him the Lord of your life is the key to salvation.
The church is a group of Christians, or believers who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. This Biblical definition is devoid of denominational differentiations or buildings. We put Baptist on our sign to denote a general set of beliefs, but followers of Christ from any denominational background are welcome to join us as we offer praises in worship to God.
